Children's Museum of Richmond

Our real estate agents are always thrilled at the opportunity to help anyone find the perfect Richmond homes for sale. Of course, there's also a special pleasure that comes from making sure that a family will have the amazing chance to see their kids grow up in this wonderful community.

There are so many great amenities here for young people that it's hard to narrow it down to what really matters most. Of course, there is a selection of fine public schools and a safe, welcoming atmosphere – but you'll also find plenty of venues for fun, enrichment, and extracurriculars.

When it comes to making learning fun, the Children's Museum of Richmond is a true leader.

The Children's Museum of Richmond: 35 Years of Learning and Play

With four locations throughout Virginia, the Children's Museum is known far and wide.

Its flagship campus is right in the Downtown Richmond area, though, so you'll never run out of things to do with kids of all ages. Children and adults visit for just $9 a piece and CMoR is open an astonishing seven days a week from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm!

When you drop in, you'll find nearly two dozen long-term exhibits covering all kinds of topics. All exhibits are interactive and focused on the power of learning through play. Everything is housed in a state of the art 44,000-square foot facility opened in 2000 and renovated on a regular basis.

Tykes can find their way through learning experiences like these:

  • Sun Tubes
Kids love to watch all kinds of objects go flying through these fun, twisty, turn-y tubes. Scarves, pom-poms and other small, soft objects can be inserted in the tubes and come flying out the other end. It's a wondrous way for young kids to develop hand-eye coordination.
  • Water Play!
Water play helps younger children to lay the foundation for creative thinking and problem-solving. Kids love to see the miniature whirlpool in action and discover how it works. They can also send tiny boats splish-splashing down the water slide.
  • Silver Diner
It's never too early to start learning about healthy eating, and that's the idea at Silver Diner. In this neat 1950's environment, kids can co-play while they learn more about organizing tasks and putting things in order. There's even a working jukebox!
  • The Dig Pit
The Dig Pit is like the old-fashioned sandbox with a scientific and educational twist. Future archaeologists have the chance to discover what's underneath the layers of sand by sorting and sifting. Kids can spark a love of exploration and foster useful skills.
  • The Children's Garden
A real treat for kids and adults alike! The young ones get to find out the basics of gardening, including just what it takes to nurture and grow an organic garden. Tykes will absorb lessons on plant anatomy and have the chance to identify what's growing in the garden.

The Children's Museum of Richmond Could Be Right in Your Backyard

It's one of the top kid-friendly museums in the United States, but CMoR is only one of the many things that makes Richmond special. You'll find outstanding employers, a flourishing restaurant and craft brewery scene, and much more here – there's truly something for everyone.
